he Timboon Railway Shed Distillery is located in Timboon, The Otways in the state of Victoria Australia. The railway shed dates back to the 1800’s and has been beautifully restored with many original features maintained. The owner and distiller Josh Walker produces a lovely spirit from rather small copper pot stills. Josh grew up in Timboon and started his own farm contracting business at the age of 17. Move forward several years and the passion for whisky lead to the purchase of the distillery. Having traveled the well worn whisky paths across Europe and America, learned the trade and experienced first hand the boom in the world wide trend to drinking premium spirits, Josh is now a respected member of the rapidly growing Australian single malt distilling industry.

Christie’s Cut is part of the Timboon core range selection of single malts. It’s named after Inspector John Christie who at the turn of the 19th century tracked and captured Tom Delaney who was an illicit distiller in the Timboon area. The South West Coast of Victoria has a colourful history of illicit distilling. When the Government decided to stamp out the practice, the man chosen to round up the ‘Nirranda Distillers’ was Detective Inspector Christie, champion boxer, champion sculler of Victoria, and one time personal bodyguard of H.R.H. Prince Alfred. Christie was also a master of disguise. Posing as a travelling tinker, he set out to catch the rogue moonshiners, Delaney and his associate, Jim Love. Aged for around 5 years in smaller ex Port barrels of 25 – 50 litres and bottled at cask strength of 60% abv.
