The Koshi-No Shinobu Blended Japanese Whisky – Mizunara Oak (700ml)

Niigata is known in Japan for its “Three White” treasures, i.e. snow, rice and sake, and a naturally blessed environment for pure water source. Shinobu means “Forbearance” in Japanese as it is how the distiller’s spirit should be when making quality whisky.

Shinobu Whisky is hand crafted by the distiller, Mr. Usami. He carefully selects whisky from around the world and first matures this in ex-Sherry and ex-Bourbon casks. It is then finishing in precious Japanese Mizunara oak and further maturing of the spirit takes place in Japan. The result is a unique fusion of flavours and dynamic explosion in palate yet so smooth and easy to drink. All natural with no colouring.

The Koshi-No from Shinobu is a blended whisky matured in Mizunara Oak. An expensive oak which is hard to craft into barrels, but imparts incredible flavour on the spirit of Shinobu.

This whisky is bottled at 43% abv.

Our Tasting Notes

Nose: Coconut butter, old oak, wood shavings and floral, slightly minty.

Palate: Raw sponge cake mix, oily and floral and very smooth.

Finish: Smooth, fragrant, sweet and earthy with some vanilla spice.
