Longrow Aged 18 Years Campbeltown Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

Volume: 700ml           ABV: 46%           Age: 18 Years Old           Country: Scotland

The first distillation of Longrow was carried out as an experiment when the Springbank Chairman set out to prove that it was possible to produce an Islay-style single malt whisky on the mainland. This experiment produced a whisky so special that Longrow was distilled again a few years later and has become an important part of the Mitchell’s portfolio. Regular distillation has now taken place since 1992. The barley used in the production of Longrow is entirely peat dried, giving the whisky a wonderfully smokey, peaty character. Longrow is also double distilled. The entire process is carried out at the Springbank Distillery in Campbeltown, Scotland. The whisky is named after the old Longrow distillery which stood adjacent to Springbank distillery.

This is the one to remember of all the whiskies you will ever try. The flagship in the range of Longrow or even Springbank for that matter. An extremely rare whisky which is dark and slightly mysterious. This 18 years old from Longrow has an incredible earthy nose which it developes whilst in the dunnage warehouse. A two time distilled peated masterpiece matured in ex sherry and ex bourbon barrels for no less than 18 years.

Our Tasting Notes

Nose: First impressions, wow! Apples and vanilla strike first. Wet earthiness, the dampness of oak. Peaches and orange zest, tobacco leaves with plenty of delightful smoke.

Palate: Sweetness at first, plenty of oil and orange zest. Delicatessen, smoked ham hock, stewed apples, some vanilla patisserie and a mouthwatering spice.

Finish: A long finish full of peatiness and earthiness. Oily and leathery.
