Lindores Abbey is officially recognised site of the first recorded distillation of Scotch whisky. It was back in 1494 that King James IV commissioned Brother John Cor at Lindores Abbey to make aqua vitae with eight bolls of malt. After a break of almost 523 years the stills at Lindores Abbey Distillery are flowing. Twenty years in the making and we can now enjoy a whisky again from where it all began.
This bottling is part of the Casks of Lindores Series. These series bottlings are to highlight the Lindores spirit with three differently treated casks. This edition highlights the ex-Bourbon barrels used in maturation which were sourced from Old Forrester. Bottled un-chillfiltered at 49.4% ABV.
Nose: Apple cider, freshly cut grass and creamy malted barley. Hints of vanilla, soft spice and fried banana.
Palate: Soft and creamy with sweet notes of orchard fruits, an elegant wood spice and vanilla custard with toffee spice.
Finish: Floral and fruity with medium length and cooked sweet pastry.
