Pack Includes the following whisky 3 x 200ml
Volume: 200ml ABV: 46% Age: No Age Statement Country: Japan
This whisky was matured in Mizunara which is commonly referred to as Japanese oak. Mizunara oak is commonly used for the maturation of whisky and was used to finish this Ichiro’s Malt whisky.
This Mizunara Wood Reserve is a vatted malt of Hanyu and Chichibu single malts. Pure Malt matured in Japanese Oak, vatted and bottled at Chichibu distillery.
Nose: Wood shavings, perhaps a freshly sharpened pencil, rum and raisin ice cream, plenty of floral aromas of cut grass and some Sandalwood.
Palate: There’s the signature apples and pears but with a little citrus added. Toffee sweetness attracts honey and malt.
Finish: A little peppery and some spicy ginger.
Volume: 200ml ABV: 46% Age: No Age Statement Country: Japan
This is a blended malt from the Chichibu distillery built by Ichiro Akuto that has been aged in a large wooden egg shaped vessel which previously held Japanese red wine.
Nose: Freshly cut pears and apples, red wine notes appear showing sweet red berries a touch of marzipan and star anise.
Palate: More of the red berries and the freshness of the pears and apples. The oak is very evident and well balance through the mouth. There are some really delicate spices here perhaps white pepper, also some freshly grated nutmeg. There’s now little touches of coconut and milk chocolate. Like a berry infused bounty bar!
Finish: There’s the white pepper again and milk chocolate also some liquorice that’s creeping in.
Volume: 200ml ABV: 46% Age: No Age Statement Country: Japan
The Double Distilleries pure malt whisky combines malts from the closed Hanyu and new Chichibu distilleries. The Akuto family, whose history with sake production dates back to the 17th century, had operated the Hanyu distillery up until 2000 when the distillery was silenced due to financial difficulties and eventually dismantled in 2004 under new ownership. Bottled at 46% it has been matured, vatted and bottled at Ichiro Akuto’s Chichibu distillery.
Nose: Plenty of oak with sweet aromas and slightly floral. Green fruits take the lead of pears and apples.
Taste: More green fruits and sweetness with plenty of oak. Some spices of nutmeg and cinnamon. The mouthfeel does have a soapy effect.
Finish: Lots of sweet spices, plenty of drying oak, liquorice, and creamy mint ice cream.
