A relatively new Indie bottler with very interesting and colourful designs on the labels. Some fantastic spirit within the actual bottlings, it’s a range of whiskies that you cannot overlook, normally bottled undiluted, uncoloured, unchillfiltered, cask strength and a limited run, all leading to great reviews across the board.
Glentauchers Distillery is a Speyside distillery which mainly produces whisky for blends, initially Buchanan’s and Black & White, and these days Ballantine’s. The distillery was founded in 1897 by W P Lowrie, a Glasgow-based whisky trader, and James Buchanan, a renowned blender. The distillery was built on the Tauchers farm which sits four miles west of the town of Keith. The distillery boasts long fermentation and slow distillation making the whisky more floral and light than earthy and weighty.
This single malt whisky was distilled at the Glentauchers distillery before being placed in a single ex-Bourbon barrel and left to mature for 31 years. It was bottled at 47.5% abv, natural cask strength. Only 153 bottles being produced for worldwide enjoyment.
