Adelphi 1991 Glenrothes 25 Years Old Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

Volume: 700ml           ABV: 55.5%           Age: 25 Years Old           Country: Scotland

Maturation in a refill Sherry Hogshead for 25 years has given this whisky some excellent colour. A great sign that the barrels used have been of high quality.

An unusual refill American oak ex-sherry hogshead has produced a burnished copper colour and an excellent bead.A fair amount of nose prickle to start with notes of cut grass that rapidly fade to mature cigars.  As it opens, we find a trace of mint humbugs and honeysuckle.A sweet start then slightly tannic (mouth drying), leaving a tingling sensation. At reduced strength the cigars have become cigar boxes, possibly even sandalwood with over-ripe tropical fruit and more sweet tobacco. It is also much sweeter with rich honey notes in the development.

Our Tasting Notes

Nose: A little sweetness at first, the oak smells delicious and the sherry characteristics grace the nose and define the whisky. This is going to be delicious.

Palate: The taste at first does not disappoint, in fact as it sits in the mouth and you chew on this single malt the flavours created are incredible. Stewed fruits, polished oak, cigar boxes, new leather. Raisins and figs, cranberries and honey.

Finish: The finish is long and delicious with sweetness through out and a little peppermint in the end.
