The Glengoyne Distillery is certainly one of Scotland’s hidden secrets when it comes to great single malt. Situated only a short drive away from Glasgow in Dumgoyne, it has an excellent visitors centre. The unique identity this distillery has is that the whisky is produced in the ‘Highland’ region of Scotland and the whisky is matured in the ‘Lowland’ region of Scotland. The road out the front of the distillery is known as the ‘Highland Line’ the division between the Highlands and Lowlands of Scotland. Established in 1833 as the ‘Burnfoot’ distillery it boasts a great range of aged single malt. Glengoyne Distillery translates to ‘Glen of the Wild Geese’. It has also been made famous by its place in the movie Angles’ Share
Added to the core range in 2012 the 18 years old Glengoyne replaced the 17 years old. Matured for no less than 18 years in a mix of refill sherry casks and first fill sherry casks. Bottled at 43% ABV and unchillfiltered with no added colouring. This whisky is a must for the sherried whisky lovers amongst us.
