Volume: 700ml ABV: 46% Age: 14 Years Old Country: Scotland
Built in 1967 adjacent to the first operational Clynelish distillery which was built in 1819. In the 1960’s most of the Clynelish spirit was finding its way into blends so to meet demand they required a much larger facility. The two distilleries ran side by side and were known as Clynelish A and Clynelish B but after about a year the original distillery was closed. It was then reopened in 1969 due to the demand for peated whisky to make Johnnie Walker blends. This was due to Caol Ila distillery facing a drought and closed for a year for refurbishments. The original distillery was named Brora and boasted peated whisky to the strength of between 30-35 Phenol Parts per Million. Brora ran till 1983 but is not highly sought after. The Clynelish Distillery is still to this day one of the most essential whiskies going into the Johnnie Walker blends.
This single malt whisky was created using peated barley as well as unpeated barley. It was matured to be the flagship bottling from the Clynelish Distillery. Bottled at 46% ABV.
Nose: Citrus aromas of tangerines and orange, subtle smoke with dry oak.
Palate: Orchard fruits, vanilla, touch of new leather and dry oak with bursts of orange citrus.
Finish: Long with bitter sweetness and spicy oak.
