The Bowmore Distillery was founded in 1779 and is positioned on the beautiful rugged shores of Loch Indaal in the town of Bowmore. The distillery is owned by the new partnership of Beam Suntory and produces over 2 million litres of spirit each year. This Islay distillery, still to this day, retains the traditional floor method of malting barley allowing the distillery to offer a very unique product. Floor malting can be read about by clicking here. Nowadays most distilleries use more modern efficient methods to malt barley using mechanical equipment with expert ‘maltsters’.

This first release Bowmore from the Vault Series was launched in 2016. It allows the whisky connoisseur the chance to explore the main characteristics of Bowmore whisky from cask maturing in vault number 1. This first release is to display the characters  and notes of Atlantic sea salt.

Our Tasting Notes

Nose: Charred banana, smoked pineapple, vanilla pods, sea spray.

Palate: Softly smoked mackerel, tropical fruits, salted caramel, smoked wood.

Finish: Medium with smoke and spice.
