Ballechin is produced at the Edradour distillery. The name Ballechin originates from a fellow Perthshire farm distillery, which sadly closed its doors in 1927. There, Alfred Barnard, who catalogued all the distilleries in the UK in the 1880’s, made reference to having experienced a peated whisky.
Ballechin was first produced in 2003 using heavily peated barley which has a peated level of no less than 50ppm
Part of the Straight From The Cask range. This bottling was aged for 12 years in a single Port wine cask. Distilled on the 20th of April 2004 and bottled on the 6th February 2017 from cask number 204. Only 415 bottles were produced worldwide.
Nose: Lemon and grapefruit citrus with peat smoke.
Palate: Dark chocolate coated roasted coffee beans, delicious smoke and a touch of orange peel.
Finish: Slightly burnt toffee, red fruits and dark chocolate.
