‘Above all, I wanted Kavalan Gin to be refreshing and elegant. Imagine taking a dip in a crystal pool on an intense summer’s day. That’s what I had in mind for the experience of drinking Kavalan Gin,’ Chang says on the distillery’s new gin. ‘Being a Taiwanese gin was also very important to me, just like Kavalan whisky is proudly Taiwanese. So I chose a mix of botanicals that could reflect Yilan and Taiwan. Yilan is famous for its zesty kumquats and sweet red-flesh guavas. Taiwanese Star Fruit is succulent, flavoursome and grown across Taiwan – and it’s one of my favourite fruits. Like our whisky, I made Kavalan Gin high in quality and rich in flavour.’
