Levantine Hill merges two vineyards in the heart of the Yarra valley. The first is one of the highest hills on the Yarra valley floor, the other is on the banks of the Yarra River and alongside the Maroondah Highway Levantine Hill exists for one reason. To create handcrafted wines of uncompromised quality in the traditional French style. That’s why they do everything the traditional way, by hand. To make wine you require a great winemaker. Levantine have called upon the expertise of Paul Bridgemen, one of Australia’s best. This is the start of Levantine Hill’s quest for perfection.
The wines in the Levantine Hill Estate Range are all single vineyard wines produced from grapes grown on the Maroondah Highway Estate. With the 2015 vintage awarded the prestigious Australian Red Wine Trophy at the International Wine & Spirits Competition in London last year, this wine is an an outstanding highlight in the range. A classically complex cool-climate Syrah, this wine is an assemblage of several individual small batches of fruit sourced from the Estate’s sole block of Shiraz. The poised elegant palate highlights the silken texture and vibrant plush fruit weight. Highly pixilated tannins interplay with savoury flavours to subliminally increase the length of palate and reverberative persistence of flavour. It has been handcrafted to age for eight or more years.
